Multiple Monitors – Lcd Widescreen With Portrait Orientation?

I currently have a dell d630 laptop with standard hardware except 3 GB ram divided 1/2 with the two down below, docked and a 24 inch widescreen LCD monitor. (apologies in advance for the long lead to the question below)
My job requires that i remote into servers, use databases, use the intranet, use my own notes, check email, etc. When I started I thought the real-estate on the 24 inch would suffice. But I see now I would really like is to have a monitor dedicated to email, another for my notes pages and my center monitor for working. I spend alot of time restoring and minimizing windows.
The trouble is I do not really want two additional 24 monitors. what I would really need is two 17-20 inch widescreens oriented to portrait mode.
It looks like the dell drivers and/or vtbook, should most likely make that happen. my drivers allow the 24 inch to be “rotated.” The difficulty is that the monitors do not “pivot” it is not like i want to switch them back and forth. once they are in position that is fine.
Can you just unscrew the bracket and turn it 90 degrees and put it back on? Is there some other option? I really think the 120-130 dollar acer or viewsonic monitors would be more than fine, but my expertise is not hardware, nor windows.
To sum up, what i would like is three monitors. a 17,19 or 20 inch oriented in portrait next to my 24 inch which is landscape then another 17,19 or 20 inch oriented to portrait. As I would not be using those monitors to watch the discovery channel or anything I don’t want to be spending super big bucks just to get a “portrait” configuration.
I’m open to any suggestions. Another colleague swears by VTbook, but i’m open to whatever. I just don’t want to spend a fortune since it’s coming out of my own pocket.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Problem With Screen Resolution – Screen “shrinking” Rather Than Icons Getting Bigger Etc.?
June 18, 2009 by admin

I’m on max screen resolution 1920×1200 on my dell laptop and I used to reduce it not a problem so that things would appear bigger on the desktop etc. Now whenever I reduce it the screen literally gets smaller, and black gaps appear on the top, bottom and sides of the screen, for example if I put it on the lowest resolution instead of my monitor appearing 17″, it’s like a tiny television at like 6″ with massive black gaps around it….

What Is The Best Laptop/vendor With Customer Support?
June 17, 2009 by admin

I consider myself an advanced enough user not to rely on customer or tech support, however I am helping someone else purchase a laptop. Aside from specific features that I am able to find, I am wondering if Dell would be the way to go. The purchaser is willing to pay for continued tech support (mainly phone support, not online support). They will be using the laptop mainly at home and would just like to be able to watch DVDs, use the net for online banking, the basics.
Intel Core 2 Duo
17″ screen
Full size keyboard
CD/DVD+-RW (burning music CDs and DVDs)
Touchpad (no ‘bead’ in the center of the keyboard)
Ongoing phone support..
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Surprised With A New Laptop…please Answer!?

The laptop that I am currently using is a hand me down from my husbands previous job. It is decent but rather lacking all of the goods for what I want to use it for. Anyway, my husband surprised me yesterday with a brand NEW laptop that he purchased from Dell (getting it in about a week). My question is, without sounding ungrateful….Is it a good one or will I need to add a few things to it once I get it? I enjoy online virtual games so I need something with the capability to run it! Here are the specs:
17 inch Wide Screen SXGA+display with TrueLife LCD
Intel Core 2 Duo T5470, 1.6 GHz , 800Mhz, FSB, 2M L2 Cache
2GB, DDR2 667MHz 2 DIMM
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
120G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Is this going to be a cool laptop ?? Or do I need more graphics?
Thanks in advance!!
What To Do With A Laptop?

So, my laptop is just about 1 1/2 years old and in pretty good condition. It is a Inspiron 1501 with Windows XP. It runs a little slow but I think it is just because I have a lot of stuff on it and use it daily.
But basically I was wondering if there was a way I could trade it in for cash or something, so I could get a new one with more storage and such. I would recycle it, but I need a computer and I don’t have the money to just go buy a new one.
So, yeah. And also, I was wondering if anyone has a Studio (15 or 17) or XPS from dell and if they are good or bad computers. Which is better and things like that. I’m just a high school student but I use microsoft word a lot, I have a lot of music files, I watch movies and I play games on my computer too. And I have Photoshop element.
Any answers would help!
