please tell me the pros and cons, should i bother customizing it? and should i get the 17 instead? i want to use this as a pretty general computer but i also want to be able to run a few games on it without slowing down much. please, noone just post that dell sucks, if you are gonna say that tell me WHY they suck so bad ( i know the customer suppert is shity)
i big part of why i want this laptop is because of the really cool chasis design. i know that sounds stupid, but the actual computer itself doesnt sound too bad either, but if you know if it is possible to buy a better dell computer and buy an empty dell chasis and put that on please say so.
Should I Get Dell Studio 1735 Or Dell Xps 1530??????? Helppppp?

im trying to decide which new laptop to get. i need help deciding what would fit me best. im planning on costumizing my own on the website anyways, but i still wanted some advice.
i dont really do anything to fancy on the computer. no gaming, no software stuff, nothing like that, i mostly just use the laptop for basic internet, alot of videos, itunes and music, pictures, and just things like that.
i preffer a bigger screen, so the dell studios 17″ is a good deal for me, but id rather have a better quality computer than a bigger screen. im looking for something with good screen quality (im upgrading that anyways when i costumize the computer), which would be better for music and videos and such, which runs faster and smoother, which heats up faster and gets to hot, those sorta things.
so please leave your oppinions based on the over quality of the computer, which is better and which is worse. and also which computer would best fit what i would use it for. and also id just like to know overall, not considering my uses and everything, which actual computer is better. xps 1530 or studio 1735????????

What Is The Matte Jet Black Finish Like On The Dell Studio 15?

I am thinking of buying a laptop and have been checking out the Dell Studio 15. I have not been able to actually see a jet black one in real life so I do not know what it is like although I have seen the Dell Studio 17 with the matte black finish. It didn’t seem to get fingerprints on it but seemed to get marks or scratches on it quite easily. Can anyone tell me what it is like on the Dell Studio 15 and if it gets lots of fingerprints or scratches or anything? Thanks.

Currently, I have a Dell 1520 with a 2.2Ghz dual core processor, 3gb 667mhz ram and a DDR2 8600m GT graphics card running a 1440×900 resolution on a 15.6″ screen. Having had multiple issues with said laptop, Dell have offered a replacement laptop with the following specification:
- Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9400 (2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 6 MB L2 Cache)
- Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 – English
- Microsoft® Office 2007 Home and Student/ English – Microsoft® Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint
- 2Yr In-Home Warranty Support, including evenings and Saturdays
- Jet Black Colour with Matte Finish
- 17.0″ Widescreen WXGA+ CCFL (1440×900) TFT Display with TrueLife™
- 2048MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
- 2.0 Mega pixel Integrated Web Camera – CCFL
- 250GB (7200RPM) Serial ATA Hard Drive
- 256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3650
- Fixed Internal DVD+/-RW Slot Load Drive including Software
- Primary 6-cell 56 WHr Lithium Ion battery
- Internal UK English Qwerty Keyboard
- 1 Meter Power Cord (3 Wire) – UK
- English – Documentation Studio 1737
- 1Yr Limited Warranty – Collect & Return
- 90W AC Adaptor
- Studio 1737 Order – UK
- Studio 1737 Resource DVD (Diagnostic & Drivers)
- Wireless Label (Dell Wireless Cards)- Core 2 Duo
- Dell Wireless 1397 Mini Card (802.11 b/g)
I will upgrade the ram to 3gb so that shouldn’t be an issue, however, is the Video card incapable of running WoW at high settings? (I assume its DDR2) as my current 8600m GT only provides around 10-20 FPS during 25 man raids and below 15 in Dalaran (everything max except shadows up one notch), I am unsure as to how the mobility Radeon 3650 will cope in comparison; been on notebookreview and the site indicates that the 3650 is on par or better than the 8600m GT, nevertheless, after reading numerous threads about the card, there seem to be many mixed reviews. I have no issues with playing around 15 FPS currently, but if this graphics card will be unable to provide such a number in Dalaran/25 man raids at the above settings, I may cancel the replacement and provide an engineer to fix my current laptop.
Furthermore, will the 17″ screen size reduce my frame rates by a significant amount and will the upgrade in CPU provide a large FPS boost?
If anyone with a studio 17″ could provide me with some rough indication as to how it performs in various areas of WoW, it would be much appreciated. Whether or not the card can be overclocked would also help

The Dell Studio 15/17?

Hey all,
I am thinking about getting a new laptop, I am looking at the new Dell Studio.
I am wondering who has one, what are they like? Are they worth the money? What is the graphics card like in it?
It would be mainly be used for college work and a bit of gaming here and there (Mainly Half life 2, CZ and the Sims 2/3) would it be able to play these in low/medium/high graphics?
If I was to get one I would be getting
Studio 15
Core 2 Duo T5750 (2.0Ghz)
3GB RAM
250GB HDD
Vista Home Premium
256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3450
Is it worth me getting one of these or looking for something a bit better around the £500/£600 mark?
Thanks in advanced
