Need Your Help, A Laptop For Architectural Student?

I am going to graduate this year, and I want to buy a laptop while I still can get student discount.
I heard that to run the programs like AutoCad, Revit(3d), it’s better to have 7200rpm hard drive, 256mb or more video card, and intel core 2 duo T series at 8100 or higher. I know that I don’t have to have those, but I want to have them to run programs smoothly.
I will carry my laptop anywhere with me, so under 17″ of the moniter will be nice.
I don’t want 1280X800 (for graphic), I hope it’s better than that.
I researched for a long time, and I still can’t find a good one. I am looking for one from HP, Dell or possibly from Toshiba.
But I want either HP or Dell because I heard they have better customer services.
I want the price is under 800.
I really need your help if you know the answer!
I would love to hear any other suggestions.

I am starting college this fall and I need a laptop. I’ve been drooling over macs for a really long time. I want one REALLY bad but I’m not sure if it will satisfy my needs. I will buy Office for it. My other option is a Dell. The one I’m looking at is called Studio 17. With all of the features they are going to be about the same price. Macbook a little more expensive. Anyway, what do you think?

I might also use it for a LITTLE home use like photos and stuff. Bear in mind im trying to keep costs low so I don’t want something that is above my needs, i want something that is suitable, but not over capable if you know what I mean. Just something for doing essays, surfing the web, email, a little downloading etc etc etc. but nothing too heavy.

Thanks.!

When I customize the laptop without the college discount, it lets me add a fingerprint reader, but with it there is no option. Does anyone know why this is?
