I got myself a 160GB hard drive to replace my 20GB one for my Dell Latitude C840 laptop. When I start the XP installation, I ran into this pop-up.http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/CBa…
It says:
“An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing.
Setup failed to install the product catalogs. This is a fatal error. The setup log files should contain more information.
Press OK to view the Setup log files”
So I clicked OK and got this pop-up:http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/CBa…
which says:
“Error:

Problem With Screen Resolution – Screen “shrinking” Rather Than Icons Getting Bigger Etc.?

I’m on max screen resolution 1920×1200 on my dell laptop and I used to reduce it not a problem so that things would appear bigger on the desktop etc. Now whenever I reduce it the screen literally gets smaller, and black gaps appear on the top, bottom and sides of the screen, for example if I put it on the lowest resolution instead of my monitor appearing 17″, it’s like a tiny television at like 6″ with massive black gaps around it….
Please help!!

I’m having a humongous problem finding the right laptop.
Here are the specs I want. Exact specs!
17″ or more screen
A fast 2.0 or more processor, preferably AMD
At least 2GB of ram
Windows Vista Ultimate
At least 100GB hard drive
A number pad
Under $2,500
Anyone?
And oh, I hate bulky computer like some of the Dell XMD’s. And I think alienware’s are great but they’re really bulky and box like as well. I like the more sleak look like an HP pavilion. Which is what I have. And I’ve seen HP’s that fit my expectations, but I don’t want another HP….
This is so hard. And oh, unknown brands are welcome as long as they meet the specs.
Moniter/computor Problem. Dell Dimension 5150?

I have a Dell Dimension 5150 that i had bought about 3-5 years ago. Suddenly, overnight, my monitor (i think it is a and Dell E178FP 17″) has had a pink tint on everything. I searched online and found that viewing my laptop (im using right now) is causing MY EYES to do this. IS this true. Then after this, my monitor, whenever i didnt press the off button to turn it off (after i turned off the computor) , would change colours such as blue, red, pink, yellow, etc. THEN after a few more days, a power surge went off and my comp isnt working. I no the beep codes and light number flashes and junk. It says either graphic card failure but im wondering if it has something t do with my monitor. Please help answer this question by relating if u can. Thanks a bunch. And please mention if it is nessesary for a new moniter.

Ok, so on 17 Aug 08 I purchased this laptop from Future Shop in Halifax. Yesterday [Sunday] it failed to detect the hard drive and during a test I got error code 2000-0141. Should I deal with Dell tech support or take to the Future shop where I purchased it (note: I live about 200km away from that FS).
Blu-ray Bd-live Problem?

I watch Blu-Ray movies on my Dell Studio 17 laptop. I bought TRANSFORMERS on Blu-Ray (the two-disc edition) and I can watch it without any problems. However, while playing the first disc I tried creating a new account for BD-Live content but it freezes. My player is Optiarc DVDRWBD BC-5600S. Any ideas as to how I should go about this problem?
Also, how do I find the manufacturer of my Blu-Ray drive?
