How Much Could I Ask For To Sell My Laptop? ( More Info In Details…)?

I have a 3-4 year old dell inspiron. I bought it used from my dad for about $600, he bought it new for $1800. ANyways, its in pretty good condition ( couple scratches…nothing major) and it works pretty good. The battery is pretty much dead though. The computer works great when plugged in but only has about 45 min of battery time . It is 17 inches, silver with a white border. It has worked good for me, ive watched movies and played games, surfed the net etc. I need to sell it though so i can get a smalled laptop with a better battery.
Any ideas on how much I could ask for it?

How Much Is A Used Dell Xps 1730 Worth?

A good friend of mine is looking for some fast cash and wants to sell is one year old Dell XPS 1730. The stats are:

3 gigs of ram

17 inch screen
It came with 2 gigs of ram but since he’s bought it he has put in another gig(3gigs total now), upgraded the HD, and just bought a brand new battery and power cord last week for it. I know him personally and he takes care of it very well.
It was $3,000 brand new. He has a buyer willing to pay $2,000 but will sell it to me for $1,500 and will let me make payments in on it.
Is this computer worth 1,500 today? How much does a laptop depreciate in value over time? It is one year old.
