Buying A Dvd Burner?
June 22, 2009 by admin

I have a 2006/2007 Dell model laptop with Vista. I want to buy an external DVD burner that’s compatible.
I want to use it to rip DVDs to the computer, then from the laptop I want to burn it to blank DVDs so that the burned copy will work on my TV and DVD player.
I’ve already been to the Best Buy website and they have 17 or so burners in stock but none of them says if the product is compatible or not with my laptop.
If you know what brand, make and model of burner that is compatible with my laptop, please tell me. I’d hate to waste my money on something that doesn’t work.
This is the Best Buy website so you can look if you want…. it might work….. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?…
Buying A Cheap Laptop That Can Still Perform. Stuck Between Hp And Toshiba?

I’m a student so it is mainly going to be just internet and word processor. I am debating about maybe a graphic card upgrade in case i decide to put a game or two on it later. I don’t really know which company to go for, i want it to last. I’ve been told to steer clear of gateway and dell so I think I have it narrowed down to Toshiba, HP or Acer. I don’t know who makes a more reliable product. As far as processors go, is Intel better then the AMD?
a couple iv’e been looking at: most are 17″ but i might go 16http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?…http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?…http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?…http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?…
Buying A New Computer?

i’m thinking of purchasing a new computer.
i edit pictures(nothing professional, just playing around), listen to music and watch dvds every now and then.http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDe…
Circuit City has this in a bundle for 1130$ with a 17″ Flat screen LCD, a printer/scanner/copier, and a wireless remote, keyboard, and mouse.
My dell laptop just died. After a little over a year. I’m not buying dell.
The HP computer in our house has been here for about five years. So i’m going to stick with HP.
I want something fast. That will last awhile. i’m also not looking to spend more than 1200.Everyone’s saying alienware. Those are pricey. This is in my budget and includes a monitor and a printer/scanner/copier.
I would just like some opinons?

Hi Guys! I Could Really Use Some Advice From All You Techies Out There On Buying A Laptop!?

I’m looking at www.dell.ie with a budget of about €1450 ($2237).
The laptop models that have caught my eye are the Inspiron 1721, Inspiron XPS M1530 and Inspiron XPS M1710.
I’m a little weary of the 1721 due to the integrated graphics card. The M1710’s 17 inch screen is attractive, but the graphics card I’d be getting would be the nVidia 7900GS 256MB (can’t afford the extra €200 for the 7950) compared to the M1530’s nVidia 8600M GT 256MB card.
Which nVidia card is better?
Also, the M1530’s processor (Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.20 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2-cache) seems better than the M1710’s Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.00 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2-cache)
Which laptop should I go for?
I’m basically looking for something that could cope with anything I could throw at it.
If anybody thinks I’d be wasting my money with Dell, which manufacturer would you recommend, and which model laptop – still keeping the price around €1450.
Thanks in advance guys!

I’m looking for a super-efficient high end laptop good @ gaming, multimedia and multiprocessing.
It should have around a 17″ screen with rock-solid performance @ as low a price as can be done.
Persistent search led me to two models:
1. Dell Inspiron 9300http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/c…
2. HP Pavilion dv4000http://h50025.www5.hp.com/hpcom/hk_en/11…
Now the former is said to be solid in gaming… as is the latter… but the former has a 17″ screen…
The former costs around $1,894 and the latter $1000
What to choose:
Both 80GB, DVD+/-RW (Plus Minus), 802.11g wireless
Dell: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,178…
Intel Pentium M 760, 1.86 GHz, 1024 MB RAM, 80 GB HD, nVidia GeForce 6800 Go & 17″ widescreen screen
All @ 8.1lbs
HP: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,185…
Intel Pentium M 770, 2.13 GHz, 512 MB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X700 & 15.4″ widescreen screen

Buying A Pc Laptop… Is This One Good Enough?

I’m buying a laptop for college (mine broke yesterday, two weeks before I leave). I’m kind of hesitant because of vista, but I can’t afford a mac, so please don’t tell me that I should just get a mac. My budget is really $700, but I’m hoping to stretch it to $900. These are laptops I’m looking at:
HP dv9910us, 17″ for $649
HP dv6768se, 2.0GHz, 15.4″, 250GB for $849
Gateway M-1625, 2.0GHz, 15.4″, 250GB for $699
Dell 11525-102B, 1.83GHz, 15.4″, 250GB for $849
CompaQ Presario F767NR, 2.0GHz, 15.4″, 250GB for $679
What do you think? My main uses are really only Internet, email, word processing, and multi-tasking. I do have quite a large music collection and I like to watch DVDs on my laptop, but that’s not a huge deal. I only play the occasional game.
Im Buying A New Dell.. Any Suggestions Or Deals For Current (01-09-2009) Laptops? ?

Hi All!
Ok lets face it I’m a noob when it comes to buying new computers.. theres so many choices out there. I currently have 3 dell computers (1 aging desktop and one fairly new laptop and mine..one aging laptop) in my household and am looking foward to buying a new more powerful, feature-full laptop for my own personal use. My cousin has followed me on this dell voyage and also has 5 dells of her own.. (3 desktops of varying age and 2 laptops). So we basically are a family of dell owners. I have had very good luck with dells and am very happy with the total all around support and product quality. When i bought my personal laptop i made the mistake of calling dell before i had done any research on them. The pressure to make a sale was intense and i made some stupid decisions that i now regret making on my current laptop.. which is why i am here.. all i have is 3 usb ports no external video-photo option no video-photo inputs no firewire in-out very small slow hard drive and low memory cpu and video is ok but the whole all around laptop is very limited.
So I’m looking for something in a laptop under or around 1800$ with a total package. Let me expalin a little… or a lot haha! Basically, Im a computer geek and I’m going to be playing high end games on it from time to time (id like to put ALL my games on it (50 to 100 gig)). So ill need a good video card and a ton of memory and also a fast, large hard drive (preferably dual HD) and a very fast processor. I will be editing and storing large high quality digital videos on it also (100gig and growing). I will be editing large high quality pictures and storing them on it (40 gig and growing). I want my whole mp3 collection (30 gig) to be able to fit on it and ill also need a good quality sound card if needed (intergrated is fine if not needed). Ill be using it to play online games also and to browse the internet. I’m kind of skeptical of vista so I’ll need an option to be able to either install both and use one or the other or ill need to be able to downgrade to xp. I have both these programs on disk from my other dell computers so either OS is ok (recovery partition is not really necessary and will take either OS). I’ll also need support for drivers for both OS in case i want to go back and forth between OS. Actually with partition magic i can have both OS so it doesnt really matter but i will need the drivers support or disks for both. I will need an svideo option or better, preferably, for an external monitor (basically my widescreen tv in the living room) for watching videos from my computer. Ill need multiple usb ports.. at least 3 but preferably 5 if possible. Ill need one firewire connection or more (preferable 6 pin but 4 pin is ok) on it so i can connect my camcorder to it and import or exprot digital videos, etc.. to and from my laptop or to and from a firewire external Hard Drive. If possible, but not necessary, i would like a card slot (XD picture card) or different slots for importing pictures from mine and other digital cameras. An external, large, usb powered HD is ok if i cant get a large internal one HD or dual and preferable over one terrabyte. Ill need a long lasting battery and if it doesnt affect the price too much an additional battery. I dont need additional software or additional accessories except the ones ive specified or the ones that are included at no additional charge to me. Additional warantee or upgraded warantee is ok if it doesnt affect the price too much. Ill also need an option to be able upgrade the memory or add more and to upgrade other components. DVDRW-CDRW good speed (preferably dual layer or/and blueray but not necassary). Wireless.. 15″ screen but 17″ prefered..
Thats about all i can think of for now.. will add more later if i think of it..
Thanks for reading through this guys n gals.
Any suggestions or comments are welcome.
Thanks again for your time and support..
P.S. non refurbished preferred please
