I Am Getting Ready To Buy A Laptop – Which One Is Best?

I used to be a Gateway fan but the last one only lasted a year and a half. The staff there was not helpful and basically I got stiffed. You may need to know what I use it for. I am a full-time freelance writer so I am on it all the time and I need a big screen, at least 17″. It needs to be really fast.
I also will prob get the 3 year warranty this time, is it worth it? I was looking at a Dell refurb based on someone’s recommendation to save money. Money is an issue, I’d like to stay well under $800 or much less if I can get something really nice.
What do you think I should buy?

Notebook: Alienware/dell/mac, W/c Is The Best One To Get For Multimedia And Gaming?

I’m trying to get a laptop/notebook and I haven’t come to a decision of buying one yet. I have done a lot of researching but still I don’t know what to get. My budget is around 2400. And I was opting to get an Macbook pro “17 refurb. But graphic wise they are all different. I could get a lot of stuff on the dell 1720, which is comparable on the mac, than the alienware. But power-wise both alienware is dominating and the mac is always close behind even if it has an inferior set-up. I don’t know what’s the dell?
Anyway, I would want to play games in it and also I would use it for multimedia (3-D, video, flash and website applications).
I appreciate your answers.
What Is The Best Laptop/vendor With Customer Support?
June 17, 2009 by admin
I consider myself an advanced enough user not to rely on customer or tech support, however I am helping someone else purchase a laptop. Aside from specific features that I am able to find, I am wondering if Dell would be the way to go. The purchaser is willing to pay for continued tech support (mainly phone support, not online support). They will be using the laptop mainly at home and would just like to be able to watch DVDs, use the net for online banking, the basics.
Intel Core 2 Duo
17″ screen
Full size keyboard
CD/DVD+-RW (burning music CDs and DVDs)
Touchpad (no ‘bead’ in the center of the keyboard)
Ongoing phone support..
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Best Laptop For College?

College life, fun…I need advice on which laptop to buy, I’ve done my research in fact I’ve done tons of it. And I have a general idea of what I want/need the laptop to have, but I’m not sure about the best brand, best screen size, most affordable, which is lighter in weight. And that snazzy stuff that counts.
Here’s what I want/need
-17 in or 15.4 widescreen
-Under $1000 or $1200
-I’ll be traveling a lot before school starts so I want it to be light weight, but still have all the components
-I was thinking HP or Dell, MAYBE Mac
-I’ll have music,pictures,videos,general school stuff + more
-A 120 to 160 gb storage [correct me if I'm wrong please]
-Built in web cam if possible
-DVD/CD burner [if that exists on a new model]
I’ll be using it 95% of the time, and I’ll be traveling a lot. So I don’t want it to be super heavy, and oh tips on buying an afforable backpack and accessories for the laptop?
Thanks a lot^^

My sister used TOSHIBA for 5 years and never-ever had a problem. She changed the her old 5 years laptop in 2008 with TOSHIBA 17″ inch. TOSHIBA is a good laptop.
My another sister used TOSHIBA for a year and wanted to change to SONY SR 26 series. This another sister is computer under-graduate.
My another sister used DELL for 2 years and never-ever had a problem except DELL is taking a long time for graphic. My sister always angry if her DELL had a problem.
My dad used ACER ASPIRE 3600 for 3 years but always had a problem and taking long time.
My brother in law used Apple Power Book G5 for few years. The graphic I think is the best but for changing the OS it’s hard because we must format first to Microsoft/others.
So my family had a different laptops type.
I received the TOSHIBA 1 year from my sister for my education.
I wanna ask what is the best?
But I wanna say that Acer is not good for working. I think TOSHIBA, but I’m not really sure.
