Celeron Processor 450 any good?? What would be some feedback on that computer. The monitor offers 1440 x 900 resolution. It also has:
2.2 GHz Intel Celeron Processor 450
2 GB of DDR2 system memory, 667 MHz
250 GB hard drive
Please let me know if this computer would be good- I already have a gateway laptop but need a desktop as well. Thank you!

You will be DISAPPOINTED with a CELERON and could find much better deal at DELL OUTLET…or even your local Craigslist.
19″ LCD monitors are now standard and i you’re not picky, very reasonably priced
Why settle for mediocre if you are buying long-term?
Seriously Think Twice bec You will have Trouble Unloading if you are later Unhappy
NOOO!. Don’t buy a Dell, seriously. If you are looking for a bang for your buck, build your own or at least check out computer you can buy on the internet. You will be surprised by how much cheaper it is to buy your computer off http://www.newegg.com (american) or http://www.scorptec.com.au (australian). I myself am looking for a computer and have considered dell, I considered the Dell assistance that you get automatically when you buy a Dell PC and then I thought, ‘Why in heavens name do I need Dell support if I have the whole of Yahoo Answers?’
Anyway, the cons and pros:
Build your own:
Pros:
-Get to pick what parts go into the PC
-Challenge of building it yourself (always fun)
-If you dont want to build it yourself, a small price will build the whole thing for you
-And most of all, the price! You save around half price or aat least30% when you build it yourself
Cons
-No Dell support (but who the hell cares)
-You can screw the computer up while building it if you have no idea hat your doing (but you can get professionals to do it for you)
Dell
Pros
-Dell support (no one cares)
-Warranty (you get a warranty when you buy your own parts)
-Already built (wrecks the fun)
Cons
-Overly EXPENSIVE!
-Not as much bang for your buck
-You don’t get to pick any parts, it is already set.
So overall, I think that the build it yourself computers obviously win. I mean, better price, better quality and then fun of building your own computer.
yes,yes tom is right, build your own(except the monitor)this industry moves way to fast to be bogged down with a store bought computer, what you need is an expandable pc. store bought will con you into thinking you can upgrade, but the truth is eventually they want you to buy a new one.I sure their is someone withen 500 yards of you that has experience putting together pc..s.this is half the fun.youtube has hundreds of vids to help, but just remember to ask alot of questions about compatibility in components.Whatever you do don’t use the geek squad at best buy, that is the biggest scam job going.good luck
My nephew got a 530 for christmas. His has a core 2 duo not celeron. If you can afford the upgrade it would pay to get the core2 Its a pretty good computer. His came with XP installed and a free Vista premium upgrade. Hes pretty happy with it. I have heard the new Celerons are pretty good, alot better than the old ones. The new ones are dual core. He does gaming so I got a 3rd party video card. The onboard video is ok though. If you are just going to do everyday stuff and dont need pumped up graphics.
Its a pretty average system for word processing and web surfing however i would recommend this:http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/c…
orhttp://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/c…
Also i would recommend at least a 20″ monitor.
for extremely basic tasks, it’s ok. Mind if I ask how much this PC costs? Unless this PC is less than $300 altogether, including warranties, shipping etc, do not consider it. And I have doubts that this Pc is new — it’s probably refurbished.
Celeron CPU’s are bottom of the barrel stuff — they’re slow, and it grinds to a halt when you multitask more than a few apps at once. But for general web browsing and documents, it’s fine.
good for basic task.. and using windows XP.. dont even think about using vista on it… also.. i would recomend a video card… the cheapest one you can find.. you will be surprise of the difference between using the integrated and a dedicated video card.
I use a 17″ monitor at work but have a 19″ at home. Believe me, you will like the 19″ much better than a 17″ monitor.
