Help!!! I Have Major Webcam Problems.?

I have a dell studio 17 laptop. And for some reason I cannot access with a program on my laptop. The only way I can get to it, is by getting on myspace and take a picture with it. Or get on youtube and record a video with it. So I need to try to access my webcam just by getting on it from my laptop, not through any websites. I really need help with this. I will give 10 pts. Promise.
1st start by going to the web site for your web cam and updating the drivers and apps .. this may clear your problem.
